First Launch

As long as I can remember I wanted to be near water. Growing up in Missouri made that difficult, so when I came to Jacksonville for a visit, I could not resist the beautiful river that flowed through the city. Its because of the river that I ended up making Jacksonville my home. After her first visit, my mom couldn't resist either.
Realizing that our feet could only get us so far, she got me something I have always wanted, a canoe! Being fairly new to the area, I did some research to find the best spot to have our first launch. After driving around for awhile, hoping the canoe wouldn't fall off the top of my car, we stumbled onto Cedar Point Preserve. It was perfect! The sky was clear, and there was a slight breeze.
So we unloaded and packed up the canoe with all our supplies, during which I fell into the water, of course!
While out on the glass-like water we spotted so many species of birds all around us. It was a great trip!
The best part was seeing a troop of fiddler crabs waving at us as we plowed the canoe onto the ramp!
Every time I am in my canoe I think of its fun first launch!
